[This post is part of a Message for Obama series.]
It's the season for wishes (from citizens) and gift giving (by Obama). Certain demanding people aren't just asking for stocking stuffers. They'd like the big toys, gift wrapped, thank you very much. Something like freedom from fear. Or no regrets for ...

Obama's grandmother -- Madelyn Dunham -- died yesterday in Hawaii. One day before the election. RedneckCabbie, a 27-year taxicab veteran now living and working in Minneapolis, offers his simple, heartfelt condolences. (Thanks, Sarolta Cump.)
RedneckCabbie says it as well as anyone.

Matthias Orfield from Moorhead, Minnesota, takes wedding photographs from the Twin Cities to Fargo. Also more whimsical shots. Here he is in a self-portrait with a McCain cookie.

Bolobilly, an animal control officer from St. Paul who would like it to be known that he is both "male" and "taken," was inspired by the simple message of a relative unknown:

Sue Salinger found this Minneapolis graffiti photographed by Ian, who says, "It's the little, odd things that make my day." Well this little, odd burst of free speech expresses something about Wall Street that surely we all can agree on:

It's of course harder to ...

Anapaprika has made a quirky animated short starring Lady Liberty, who is waking up to her clock radio playing excerpts from the Republican convention. (Thanks, Sue Salinger.)
How do you read this one? Is it simply a "day in the life" of Lady Liberty aka average American? A commentary on wall-to-wall ...

In the last few days, both Obama and Biden have accused the McCain/Palin campaign of dishonesty and nastiness in its attacks and ads. Many of their fellow Democrats feel similarly about the tone McCain and Palin have adopted.

On the fence [slavetothemusic / Flickr]
Ann Raber just discovered an interesting new blogger. He writes anonymously at Black Men for McCain. He says he's a black Republican and a Christian who dislikes Obama and intended his month-old blog to support McCain.
Until, at least, McCain picked Palin:
I’m a Republican because this ...

Over 800 people were arrested in St. Paul during the Republican convention last week: protesters (some violent), journalists, and apparently innocent bystanders. There were also a few pre-emptive raids. Some people felt a general air of intimidation, which is reflected in these photos.

One of the most memorable one-liners from the Republican convention came from the crowd: "drill, baby, drill." It started during Giuliani's speech and caught on immediately.
Jay from Baltimore found it "slightly troubling" -- and so do his penguin friends:

Jay diplomatically encourages people to look into the matter: "No ...
