Message for Obama: Specific Requests
Posted by Katherine | December 11, 2008 – 5:12 am[This post is part of a Message for Obama series.]
Some of the Message for Obama pictures get really really specific: Please visit Gaza. Forget about the puppy talk, get a chicken for the White House! Please don’t take my “assault weapon.” Please do support science. Never stop podcasting. And, of course, protect parrots.
Mandi of Arwai and Mandizzle Strellache, who are “just a couple of weirdos” in Sacramento, wants Obama to know that she, too, misses her grandmother. It seems her grandmother suffered from diabetes; she’d like Barack to work on a cure.

Chris A lives in Nashville. He arrived there by way of Tacoma, WA, Columbus, OH, a stint in the Army travelling the world, and Boston, MA. Chris likes Nashville, though he’s spent the “hottest 3 summers of [his] life” there. He’d like Obama to know that he measures those high temperatures in degrees Celsius, and he’d like the rest of the nation to follow suit.

Ben Ostrowsky is a librarian in Decatur, Georgia (or possibly Tampa, Florida). He’s pretty optimistic about people’s basic goodness, and he’s a fan of the Oxford comma. Ben has a strong preference for Obama’s first Supreme Court nominee:

Like Lessig, a Stanford law professor on the Creative Commons board, Ben believes in the Creative Commons license for intellectual property.

*snort* Neither Tampa nor Decatur, actually. Shame on me. I’ve updated both sources to reflect my home in Atlanta. Thanks!

I feel our government needs to invest in finding cures for stuff. Even if it’s not diabetes, what about AIDS or cancer? When’s the last time we cured something?
