Former Illegal Immigrants Voted for Obama
Posted by Katherine | November 6, 2008 – 10:31 amSue Salinger found this video of an Obama-supporting family in California. They’re talking about their votes on a moonlit night just after casting their ballots. Erick, a 30-year-old who likes Sade and Pablo Neruda, first films his giddy mom and slightly embarrassed teenaged brother (a first-time voter). Then he turns the camera on himself to explain that he and his mother, now proud US citizens, had been illegal immigrants from Colombia.

Erick says, in the notes about his video, “A black man is the president and all this is possible in America. We feel unbelievably proud.”
